JUMC Green Team Garden
Under the guidance of Nancy White, “Gardner Extraordinaire” from Rexford, we have designed, planted and are growing produce to be supplied to the Helping Hands Food Pantry. Thanks to the youth (above) for helping with the planting.
The Garden is symbolic of the Jonesville United Methodist Church’s commitment to care for the needy in our community and beyond. It is also reflective of our caring for creation through the protection and preservation of the sacredness of the earth.
The basic layout is in the shape of a cross following the logo pattern developed by Claire Walling. The arms of the cross are raised beds (4x8) and the center is an “at grade” garden. We have attempted to simulate the green spirit flame with vine crops…Watch the flame grow!
The garden has used a “no-till” “weedless” gardening approach employing organic approaches.
Thanks to: The Administrative Board, JUMC Outreach, Helping Hands Food Panty, Trustees, JOY Boys, The Weldys, Price Chopper, Van Auken Trucking and Excavating, Saratoga Co. Recycling, and others who have given!!!
If you’d like to become part of the team call the church office.
